There's far too much fantastic metal to choose a single subgenre, I generally prefer genres that are enriched with other genres or elements. Folk, Atmospheric Black, Gothic, Symphonic, even Nu Metal, etc. Currently, Waldgeflüsters' "Dahoam" and Lunar Auroras' "Hoagascht" fit my mood quite well.
