This is a step in the right direction! Let’s hope the plan prioritizes affordability and actually addresses the needs of those most impacted by the housing crisis.
80,000 homes in 15 years? It’s a start—but let’s be real, New Yorkers need bold action NOW. Housing is a right, not a luxury. This city can do better, faster, and smarter. The people deserve it, not just the developers. Let’s BUILD like we mean it! #MakeAmericaProgressiveAgain
Creating fewer people would also work, in fact for the overall health of every human being and the survival of same (hopefully reverse our rapid extinction) fewer people is really the only solution.
Unless those homes are guaranteed to be affordable housing, this will do nothing to address the housing crisis. You can't build your way to affordability in a place everyone wants to live and where the rich keep apts empty as investments.
What if… instead of adding more housing and cramming in MORE PEOPLE into an overpopulated city with a lack of infrastructure for the people we already have…
We invest in high speed 🚞 so people can just live upstate where there is no shortage of land…
Keep in mind that at a minimum 50% of all buildings in NYC are vacant but they won't lowered the rent because they received tax credit on the vacancies.
There's zero reason to build more homes when you already have millions of sqft vacant!!!
This is just another scam
Instead of building a paltry amount of new housing, maybe NYC should tax commercial property so that enough jobs leave the city and there is less demand for housing. They cna use the tax to subsidize housing, until there is balance between jobs & housing.

And democrats wonder why they got no support a month ago.
80,000 in 15 years is woefully inadequate.
Good progress wayyyyy to long and to little
