Can't read full article due to the paywall. However, there is a reason health and pharma companies hire account managers to meet with health providers at all levels. The are expected to get their drugs prescribed and it starts with samples in the docs office.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've been knowing this? Purdue was pressuring distributors and pharmacies to perscribe oxy. Why wouldn't they pressure others in the supply chain?
I would guess some docs did too. My sociopathic surgeon gave it to me oxy after its addiction properties were known publically. He told me I’d need it. Nope.
