I don't think it's meant in a "funny" way. Back in the 1970's when there was a huge fight over women's self-agency and right to their bodies the standard response to learning a woman was raped had been "yeah, but what she was wearing", and they were serious. This was what we fought against.
I am Far from making light of it. It's exactly what people say any time something similar happens, and it's horrific. You completely and utterly misunderstood my comment.
You have no idea of the path I have walked, and the number of times I have heard those words...so kindly but out.
Gisèle Pelicot had no idea her husband of 50 years was drugging her & inviting dozens of men to rape her. As one of the most horrific trials France has ever seen comes to a close, the world is left asking how could this happen?
I hate to think how this would have played out here. I think the media would have somehow been on his team seeing how politicians and other privileged individuals seem to get away with it.
He got only 20 years. I understand that's the maximum sentence, but it certainly doesn't seem enough for a man who raped his wife and allowed 50 other men to do the same to her for 10 years. Doesn't seem like much justice.

Walk in her shoes.
This woman suffered for years, not anything to make light of.
You have no idea of the path I have walked, and the number of times I have heard those words...so kindly but out.
And you have no idea what paths others have been on.
Viva la France 🥳🥳🥳👏👏
