Gonna need a lot more money as GOP increases fossil fuel use and abandons global warming fight. For now,the fight is over. Individual efforts cannot make a measurable dent in global warming as new rules release carbon and pollute in every possible way. Radical Republicans rule now.
They could. But it would need to make financial sense to do so, and moving your entire operation can be very costly. And if that were to happen, new companies would likely form to replace them
moving is an expense in the now .. but in the long run can save a great deal of money .. No business will succeed without long range planning .. I am from NYC i have seen many leave
Many companies and people have left … the void they leave will most likely not be filled because any company with common sense will evaluate the pros and cons of choosing that market .. i love NYC but it is not the same city it was historically.. it is severely run down in many places.
The State of New York is still the 10th largest economy in the world, almost assuredly there is still a profit to be made for the fossil fuel industry and unfortunately I suspect there will be for many years to come.
we shall see .. but from where i stand .. living there mist of my life .. the city is crumbling .. i hope things pick up .. but i will not hold my breath
I wouldn't count it out. The City has faced challenges numerous times in its past and has found a way to bounce back and succeed. I'm confident this legislation will be a part of its future success.
But for fossil fuel, world would be stuck in preindustrial hell:
- No industrial revolution.
- No trees.
- No whales.
- No trains.
- No refrigeration.
- No economy
- No Las Vegas
- Streets full of dung.
- Medieval villages of starving peasants.
- Fossil fuel keeps you alive, today.
If you're on a non compete agreement and live in New York, say thank you to Kathy Hochul for vetoing legislation to make them illegal. You can thank Gavin Newsom for creating work at home jobs all over the country since they ate illegal in California.
As a practical matter, if not in terms of populist rhetoric, the right exclusively represents those at the top. The left is concerned as well with those on the bottom. You’re left, but it’s fine with if you don’t care to say so. Lots of it about.
L/R issues, while important, are truly the diversion.
The rich continue to rob us all blind while they leverage politicians and the media to keep us triggered and fighting amongst each other.
Elon Musk bought the Presidency for a fraction of what he paid for Twitter.
Awful.
Citizens United is literally the worst decision our politicians could make if they were truly a people-service organization.
Not all our politicians are self-serving opportunists, but definitely enough of them are to make manipulating policy fairly easy for the wealthy and their corporations.
How does it feel to go from the leader of the free world to the biggest bully on the planet in 1 week.
You shouldn't be chattin' up Putin, but taking him down and putting out the fires.
It's time to read a history book to learn how it ends, before they're all gone.

It’s about time! No loopholes this time! Let the voters and consumers know the total price of using fossil fuels: deaths, livelihoods lost when spills or drilling leak, destroy cities, oceans, the gulf….
That will ultimately accelerate the shift to renewable energy. As their product becomes expensive, renewable projects become comparably more profitable which increases investment.

The 2010 Supreme Court decision further
tilted political influence toward wealthy donors and corporations.

Currently at tip of iceberg.

Building on that premise; Netanyahu should be in there as The Secretary of Bomb Them Back to the Stone Age.
Because of Curtis Yarvin & the whole “Dark Enlightenment” thing.
This is the other alternative. Those companies would rather pay an exorbitant fine than overhaul their infrastructure.
What dumb shits.
