It must have been strange for Amy Carter to go to school each morning with her Secret Service agent nearby. I imagine the agent was either in her classroom or just outside the door all the time, too. Rather unnerving for a young child, I'd think.

I wrote her a letter at some point during his presidency, and was so excited to receive a handwritten postcard response. It’s been more than 40 years and I’ve never forgotten that gesture.
