Let us sink in. When President elect Ronald Reagan could have ended the Iranian hostage crisis, he chose instead: negotiated Iran should hold the hostages to give him a better position to be elected president .
Iran-contra never would have taken place. Reagan was a traitor. Not unlike Trump.

The reason he failed with this hostage crisis: he was blocked by the GOP, who refused to release the hostages until Jan 20 - the first day of the NEXT presidency. Y'know, so the GOP could claim Carter failed and they delivered. They were, and are, abominations.

In the end he was proved right. So many Americans have died in Afghanistan and Iraq that it is obvious US forces are not equipped to fight terrorists. Regrettably the Israeli path seems to be the only way.

It wasn't just at the expense of his political career. It was at the expense of the reputation of the United States, and that was a far higher cost. And it has led to repercussions that reverberate to this day. The government of Iran should have been ended the day they dared touch an American.
