H-1b workers often turn into indentured servants. They are paid less, if fired they can be immediately deported, since most are here without their families, they tend to work all the time .

The tech industry prefers them above highly trained Americans, esp minorities and women.

I would be a huge fan of the H1B program if it actually was to bring in the best. Instead it’s mostly bringing in the average via fake, bloated job listings that would otherwise easily be filled by a junior dev. With thousands of layoffs, there are so many spending 6+ months searching.

The Government Accounting Office (GAO) which reports to Congress has an excellent report on H-1B visas. In essence it found that the program depressed US wages, hired to fire, a large percent did not have college degrees
