dude, we were just about to ban TikTok because it's based in China and our data can be used against us. So why the F isn't that the pretext for conversation about deepseek??? ban effing both of them!
Greedy Americans mad that their strangle hold on technology is loosening. They rather invest more money and charge more than to have cheaper solutions for the general public. I'm supposed to be mad at China? gtfoh
I’m not the guy for this argument. I don’t hate AI categorically. I’m just observing that most generative AI at this point is more of a novelty than it is essential infrastructure.
TLDR: It was another bullshit bubble. It popped. The tech oligarchs are still obscenely rich, and since they pwn your sorry asses you’ll still spin anything the way they want you to.
Let us know if you ever decide to become American journalists again.
We’ve been here before. The archetype was the 2000 dot com bubble.
Massive capital flowed into damn near every new virtual storefront, and damn near none of them had a viable business model. When investors realized this the bottom fell out.
Beanie Babies were another example. Value was illusion.
You lived through it but you only knew about it because of the news. My point is that it's stupid to say this isn't journalism when your entire perspective on it comes from journalism of the same subject matter ... Lol.
The US stock market is a bubble, of which, will make 1929 appear mild.
Currently the US's 7 biggest companies are valued more than all of China's. It's delusional. China is well ahead in most aspects. The US is loaded with debt (mostly owned by China).
It is not upending itself...that would mean that AI in the US somehow created the AI in China...and insinuating it knew what it was doing ... How mysterious!? Bwhahaha
You're watching a lot of Hollywood movies. I use Chinese social networks and censorship is no worse than American censorship. Your brain was taken by Disney, my friend.
No, I live in China and speak Mandarin fluently
You're a jackass who has never been here and doesn't speak the language and couldn't even search for '习近平做过哪些坏事?' on baidu.
really? it builds on ChatGPT, and is almost certainly being trained on significantly chips than stated, likely skirting export rules. Do you know something the rest of us don’t?
The article says the training data contain some ChatGPT output. This may have happened any number of ways - perhaps they trained it deliberately on ChatGPT output, but perhaps they trained it on Reddit including /r/ChatGPT… if so it’s based on ChatGPT in the same way as it is based on Shakespeare
maybe, we have no idea. All I’m saying is to take a Chinese tech company’s word, historically isn’t wise. Like it being trained on 2k chips, seems very unlikely. To claim they’re “eating our lunch” without any real data is hyperbolic, sorry
lol. when I said based on, I meant trained on. You make claims with zero evidence of o support it. If you believe Deepseek was trained on 2000 chips you’re delusional. Why would you believe them? Is China known for their honesty in tech?

The actual data is mined and stored in China, and Open Sourcing does nothing to that fact.

Do you have any constructive rebuttal arguments, or you just here to show your ass?

Respectfully, everyone but you is getting it, based even just on the stock market :)

I am extremely certain it’s not built on ChatGPT and you would be too if you knew how these things worked :)
Btw most models claim they are another model at some point
