News Analysis: In sharp contrast to his first term, President Trump began imposing tariffs before he began even cursory diplomatic negotiations, hitting allies and adversaries alike and wiping out years of trade agreements.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The world needs to bypass US for trade. Clearly we can’t honor our treaties why even bother dealing with us. #Felon47
You don't think cancelling the Times from the Oval Office would be bigger news than cancelling it from the Pentagon? Pentagon's important obviously but not the same as the OO.
The US will end up as an isolated pariah state and the losers will be the American citizens who still believe in democracy and community with the rest of the world. For years we have watched Putin steal power and oppress the people. Now the same thing is happening in the US
So your word is no longer worth much is it. Why sign any trade agreements if they can be overturned on a whim. Remember that 30 day pause with your allies. Didn't even last a week Trust?
We have to push back but not only with tariffs. Mainly by boycotting anything from American companies. There are products where it's easy like any FMCG and somewhere it's more difficult but even limiting purchases matter.
Can the courts stop him in all this? Will they? Can/should the congress stop him? Americans are sharply divided, and each side is uninformed of the other's views.
Reminiscent of Andrew Jackson's times. Turns out he has been unfairly treated.
By what authority can they do that? How can they be stopped?
So turns out authority comes FROM justice, there is nobody higher. It isn't really all guns, the people holding guns need rules and justice too. With the Andrew Jackson episode, it was a case of systematic problems. Are we hitting that
criteria now? Why are people on their own side not stopping them? So they are, you can see them backing off on certain issues, not backing off on others.
But there is an overall issue here, and both sides do have to listen to the other side. Not "believe in", but "hear each other out."
Has the court been so unjust that nobody will back it against the other side? What ARE their grievances? Just assuming the worst against the other side is not a good idea.
Maybe they ARE racists. OK? I am an immigrant, subject to racist hatred. I can testify that you CAN talk to people who might
be considered racists. They are not just ready with guns to shoot down anybody different, they can and do engage in speech, they want people to understand they are not mindlessly hateful, they have fair grievances.
Listen to the other side's grievances, try to understand where they are coming from.
Sad that our president has to force another president to say this:
Zelensky: It is “important that everything does not go according to Putin’s plan,” he said. “There can be no talk about Ukraine without Ukraine,” he insisted.
Apparently, anyone can negotiate on behalf of a president? Interesting!
" America will dominate the industry, make the most advanced chips on American soil, write the software there and set the rules. Europe could either get on board or get out of the way"
Do but boost hatred, fear and seem like someone overcompensating?
And yall should have asked "who specifically benefits from the tariffs? where is the money going? Now with less government employees how do you plan on enforcing this tariffs?". Instead you do psych evals on "why".
It is time for the EU to become more than an economic union but one that can project power around the world. They can no longer count on the USA to do this for them. Americans will no longer tolerate or afford providing 40% of the world's military spending.
They are the worst and most incompetent people for the job. Their followers drank their “Kool-Aid” of lies and are still under the influence.
But WE STILL OUTNUMBER ALL OF THEM—our DEMOCRACY will prevail!!! Keep your cool, speak up, and help others in any way possible. 💙 #WeThePeople
Both Politiken and Berlingske write that it evokes memories of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, who in September 1938 made peace with Germany's Adolf Hitler in Munich, but has since been criticized for it, because Germany was then behind the Second World War. #tv2news.dk
Europe is very quickly realizing the US is no longer an ally. So much history together and many decades of mutual trust are over. America has aligned itself with authoritarian superpowers with expansionist ambitions. Sad days indeed.
So what you're saying is when you don't stand up to bullies the first time, but in fact empower them, they actually get worse? The plot of EVERY HOLLYWOOD COMING OF AGE MOVIE EVER is true? Who'da thunk it?🙄
Per my opinion Trump and his gang of hawks are overplaying their hand on the international level and it will cost the working class American a lot of money in the mid-long and longer term. #MAGA #TRUMP #USA
Mr. “Art of the Deal” just had his Defense Secretary completely undercut Ukraine 🇺🇦 by conceding NATO membership, which was the cause of the damn invasion!!
We need stronger politicians with a spine to tell Trump and his tech bros that we are not for sale. What we have instead are shortsighted partisan cowards who want to make personal gains by grovelling.
Including a new trade agreement with Canada and Mexico that Trump himself demanded, negotiated and signed in his first term. The signature of the representatives of this American regime has no value whatsoever.
Welcome to donald trump's world revenge tour. Once again he is out for himself and to hell with anyone else. America has been given to the billionaires & putin, and he and they are now looking around to what else they can rape & pillage.
There's nothing to freak out about, Europe. Stand your ground and return the favor: whatever tariff is imposed, double or triple it, and apply it to twice as many things. Once the US economy is sunk, we'll impeach the MAGAmorons.
It the complete opposite of how to win friends and influence countries. Around the globe the world is watching the rapidly changing democracy of the once great USA
Guess you fuckers haven’t been listening. All you’re do is spread propaganda. We all know you get paid to produce this shit by our own government. We all know you took money from. USIAD
The people here, listening look this up it’s true
Don’t ever just take these people‘s word as true it’s a lie
Coercive diplomacy is an especially oxymoronic term when it comes to this U.S. administration.
Credibility and national resolve are key to any success with this kind of diplomatic bravado. Europe isn't blind. They see how unstable U.S. society is; how inexperiened Hegseth is; how divded we are.
Hegseth is unprepared, clumsy, and blindly represents a rogue U.S. president who is abandoning allies and giving NATO's greatest adversary the greatest of comfort.
Marco Rubio once called the U.S. the "indispensible nation." Now Rubio has exchanged his patriotic pride for a makeup-laden mad king.

So @nytimes.com isn’t rewarded for whitewashing Trump during the campaign
Ukraine gave me hope of how good could overcome evil, I will always pray for that.
