Microsoft is finally hanging up Skype, which it acquired 14 years ago. It will replace the longtime calling and messaging app with a free version of Microsoft Teams.

Yea, great to hear this via the news. They already pulled the plug on my Skype In number without explaining. And now this. Horrible company.
I’d say, https://matrix.org
We have certainly lost our moral compass with this display of trying to bully another head of state.
I am ashamed of what a shit show this Pres & his VP Bitch have done.
Wife and I used Skype to talk daily my night, her morning, when I was on the other side of the world. We purchased her a new McBook. We forgot it came with a camera. I called her from my work PC laptop. Damn, I could see her! Next day purchased USB camera. Now she could see me! Trips became easier.
But Teams is the only communications app actually worse than Skype! What kind of mindless corporate drone made this business decision to replace a neglected pile of garbage with a massive dumpster fire of cobbled together jars of raw sewage?
Let me guess: The free version will have problems connecting to the business version, like they did with Skype Personal and Skype Business. And they wonder why people use Zoom.
Microsoft buys good products then slowly chokes them to boost their junky software. I hate teams nothing they can do will make me replace skype (which I use for calls abroad mostly) will make me use teams. I have been weaning myself from the junk they force down our throats for years.
Teams is among the worst programs I have ever used, and that goes back to the late 80’s. Microsoft keeps trying to jam every app it makes into Teams and it is not able to handle it. So now there’s a terrible, unstable, bloated app that is the single point of failure for work to get done.
Could not have been handled worse. Skype had the market when they bought it. I was a regular user until they tried to force the merger of my MS account with my Skype account, rendering the service unusable.
That is so annoying. For US Americans living outside the US who need a US phone number but have no US address anymore, Skype was the only option. You cannot give a foreign phone number to the Social Security people or the IRS or even most companies that manage your 401(k)s...

Teams is just as god awful as Skype.
Shamelessly humiliating #Zelensky during this press conference.
I have never ever seen anything like this before!
Microsoft has finally given up on general public messaging. It’s all about business with them.
End of an era.
