Betsy Arakawa, the wife of Gene Hackman, died from the effects of hantavirus, a rare disease often caused by contact with droppings from infected rodents.

I read the hanta virus first feels like a flu, but then can proceed very quickly to lung shutdown. She may have just thought she had a flu and needed to get through it...but then she collapsed.
Not Hanta, but my father had Legionnaires Disease, his only symptom before he collapsed was loss of appetite.
If he’d been alone I doubt he’d have survived.
My parents are stubborn when they get sick and don't always go to the doctor. This is making me want to have the discussion for them to check in with me every morning because they're retired and living in a warmer climate on their own
No way such a virus may kill a human all of a sudden! She could heasily call 911 or for an ambulance! Laying on ground, might had been bitten by a mouse or made contaminated by murderer(s) as all THREE INCLUDING 'DOG' looks like an obvious 'MURDER' like that bable seems as a silly COVER UP ATTEMPT!
Their home is in the mountains surrounded by trees. Rodents run around the forest and pee everywhere. Betsy was probably walking around outside and unknowingly brought rodent droppings into the home. It can often take weeks for the virus to manifest in the body.
So sad that they had no one checking on them, especially since he had advanced Alzheimers disease. She was very sick, why didn’t she get better care? She died and he had no one there to nourish and feed him or the crated dog.
A friend and I were talking about this on Saturday as we headed to a anti-trump protest and speak-up rally for women's day. Hackman's wife died of the rare disease and we were both wondering if Hackman might have starved because of his demenia...very sad.
You avoid it by wearing masks and gloves anywhere rodents might be - like when sweeping garages. Also, by letting predators like owls, foxes, coyotes do their job. #hackman
Let’s forget the children... You mean that in Gene Hackman’s house didn’t have a cleaning lady, a nurse, a gardener, ANYONE who came by the whole week?
The only thing that is strange and sad is that his children didn't wonder about them for two weeks. If I couldn't get my parents after a couple of days I'd be over there.
He had advanced Alzheimer's so he was probably unaware. It's also probably why his heart killed him: she wasn't giving him his medication. The entire thing is brutal.
Text mom every day to check on her as they live in Tx. Dad doesn't reply to my texts much. Went a whole weekend not hearing from her. They normally don't answer the phone either. (Hearing issues & she refuses to wear hearing aids)But the daily texts are how I know if she's sick if she doesn't reply
Breaking: DOGE is using FAKE U.S. Marshals to breakin to our Government Buildings & Offices to intimidate & throw workers out While the garbage tech pail kids rifle thru & steal all America's Data. We need our own Police to protect them from the Burglary. They have no business being in our business!
The first chapter on Gene Hackman presents a depiction of the iconic figure, as represented by Madame Tussauds. In contrast, the final chapter adopts a somber tone akin to an unforgiven eulogy for Gene Hackman, which may be seen as just not fair.
Makes one want to get those alert bracelets that are advertised. It's hard living alone if something like that happens but even as a couple they seemed alone 😔💔
If you read and understand the article, this virus was most likely contracted at the vets when she picked up the dog, it's likely to not live ANYWHERE ELSE BUT A BARN??
There needs to be serious investigations here
I agree. I want someone to catch and test any mice on the property too.
All the espionage flicks he did. I’m trying hard to not let my creative imagination wonder if he was a an actual agent like Julia Child.
Mouse dookie sounds like it could be in the script for a KGB hit. 🥸🤓🥸
All it takes is contact with affected mouse droppings-in a shed, or even in a house if there is an infestation. Hanta is a terrible virus. Could have been picked up anywhere-incubation takes time.
The voices in his head.
She was his caregiver, they lived a private life. She died unexpectedly from a horrible disease, leaving a 95 year old man with advanced dementia alone.
It’s a heartbreaking tragedy, not fodder for the imagination of sad people with nothing else to do.
Hantavirus is extremely rare. And rarer still in that part of the country per CDC stats.
It could be a freak thing, but I lost trust in the news after the way they handled c19.
Some conspiracies are true, and it is logical to question the narratives we get force fed by the media.
A good example of this recently is the Wuhan lab leak, and that c19 was man made. Wasn't one ago you'd be canceled for even questioning this, and of course we now know this is true.
It makes sense IF she was the primary and only caregiver- He did have Alzheimer’s. The dog 🤷🏼♀️
Awful & odd story, being deceased for up to 2 weeks and no one has checked on you? Ugh.

She died of respiratory illness,
Not willing to go to the hospital
because she was a caregiver
for a 95 year old man?

Also:
"It's been noted that Betsy should NOT be referred to by her maiden name; she should be referred to by her married name".
Her name is BETSY HACKMAN. Call her by her real name.
