@columbiauniversity.bsky.social should be ashamed. This isn’t just about the genocide in Palestine. This is about free speech in America. #FreeMahmoudKhalil #FreePalestine
Trump made this an issue to highlight progressive hypocrisy. And we are falling for it. — He is in immigration detention. His rights under the immigration laws are very limited. - He engaged in acts of “moral turpitude” making him subject to deportation. His “first amendment rights” take a backseat.
Which court? The Roberts court of corrupt-ass fascists? Khalil is doomed. The dissenting opinion from the liberal justices will be one for the ages, but John Roberts has already shown us who he is, and all of the other Republican justices are even worse.
This is honestly one of the most un-American things I’ve ever witnessed. The government literally detained without even accusations of crimes, deprived due process, and tried to deport a legal resident.
For those who want journalism that doesn't pander for access, Drop Site News will end up being where you want to go. It's where the real journalists from Intercept went when corporate hacks demanded profit and access, like NYT, over journalism:
Thank you, very interesting read. Especially if you look at it from another perspective: wouldn't this be a perfect way to get rid of Elon "Adolf" Musk?
*someone whose presence in the US is “adversarial” to the country’s foreign policy and national security interests is subject to deportation*
“He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation: For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:”
Interesting to see Marco Rubio, a Cuban American, violating someone's First Amendment, especially since Cuban Americans accuse the Cuban regime of the same. Interesting times.
If they can destroy Gaza and Palestine on camera, in full view of the world, and send you to prison or exile you from your family for protesting it, you cannot assume any speech in the United States is protected or anywhere is truly safe from violence.

The law being applied in this case is murky at best, and so far no evidence has been produced to justify the charges. This will not hold up in court.
SO LONG, LOSER!! 👋
