for Berlin, this is not true. two eastern districts and two western ones were won by "Die Linke" (dark pink on the map).

The others by CDU, one Afd (one SPD if you go by "Erststimmen").

My experience in Canada is that people who grew up in Eastern Bloc countries ( and later moved here) are more prone to believing conspiracy theories and misinformation.

I do not know.
The US educational system is very different from the German one now and from the GDR one and the western one >30 years ago just in general.
