first off this is great beginner work. you have good brush control, getting the paint into the right places. you nailed the eyes, teeth, and the hands on the weapons. yellow is a very hard color to paint and get good flat results. absolutely continue, and get some contrast paints for shading

if you go over the ork skin with a contrast layer, or an ink wash, it will instantly look amazing. then you can just layer on some highlights. if youre really married to the yellow armor on your army, then you can do it, but its a challenge.

Also not doing a whole army like that, nope! Just a few kit bashed boyz. Yellow is hell and have no idea how Imperial Fists players are not pulling out fist fulls of hair. Definitely going back to my Thousand Sons after this. That trim is soothing compared compared to this yellow.

It is Gutrippa Flesh so already there and shaded with Biel-Tan Green. Will highlight once I get the other three Orks looking roughly the same. Hate highlighting though, got shaky hands and drybrushing doesn't do it for me.

Thanks. I have plenty of contrast and speed paints. Most of this is in fact done with them. Badmoon Yellow didn't take to the zenithal prime, so had to fix it up with Flash Gits Yellow. Heavily thinned out and shaded the recesses with Cassadora. Not exactly a beginner, just lost all my confidence.

Mate, I use paints that are 30 years old, straight out of the pots. Fuck those guys, ya finished it and it's neat. Good job!

It's easy to get caught up in the adulation of random strangers but paint stuff for yourself to enjoy, not them. Do it neatly and it will look great, and eventually you'll be good at all the fancy stuff like blending and shading and all that. This time next year you'll be ten times as good anyway.
