Enjoy! Itβs such a good series, I might give it a rewatch now youβve reminded me of it today. I wouldnβt count on it to help with emotional stability thoughβ¦
Oh nooooooooo.
Literally the most I have ever cried at ANYTHING on screen.
Have you received all the warnings, though? The problem stuff is mainly in season 1. And when it gets better, it really gets better - as if they sincerely reconsidered that kind of content.
I'm not ready for a show to break me completely again ππ And yes, two people warned me already. I will still watch it but I'm glad those things stopped after s1
And like I say, it feels like a *sincere* change of heart: there are several major characters who are explicitly or implicitly abuse-survivors, and it's handled better. (I still suspect the violence against enslaved people may be graphic to the point of exploitative, but even museums do that).
Also if you enjoyed the uruk storyline in RoP, Black Sails is THAT, but escalating into a major revolution by season 3 that's kind of mind-blowing alternate history. And everyone is hot and queer. And in a hot queer polycule.
I think there's like 1 token straight & he's the villain. Also kind of hot though?
There's definitely something for everyone (Im EXTREMELY asexual, but when someone says 'Captain Flint is undead and walks the earth without a soul' I thought 'how have they made this hot specifically for ME??!')
Yeah shows using SA to be 'gritty' & 'adult' makes me switch off.
I THINK there are scene-by-scene content guides for those early episodes somewhere online, cos so many fans feel strongly about it.
It's not the most graphic. But it's infuriating in a show that's otherwise FOR marginalised ppl.
But yeah, the fact that so many people had to stop watching in season 1 reinforces my anger at those Black Sails episodes for alienating exactly the sensitive audiences *the rest of the show* is really about/ for.
Iβm hoping these final seasons of Outlander get their shit together. Itβs been fine so far, but that show, I donβt know who it thinks itβs for in earlier seasons lol.

Definitely worth trying Black Sails again sometime!
