It'll never happen. Both Labour and the Tories know that FPTP ensures that even if one of them is currently in opposition, it will soon be "their turn" to rule again, with 100% of the power from less than 40% of the vote.

Under FPTP these days there is no guarantee that the next government would be Tory or Labour. Their clinging to this utterly unfit (& quite honestly immoral) electoral system could well be their undoing.

Exactly. The way things stand, if Reform were to raise £50m+ they could feasibly do a Macron / En Marche and blow the front doors in.

I don't think either of them "know" that any more. The Tories in particular I think would be deluded to think that, whereas Labour are in an electorally dangerous situation and can't afford to take a second-place position for granted.

Many thanks for that, a fascinating list. One Tory peer, mostly labour and lib dem with a smattering of other parties. I actually can't work out if I'm surprised that there aren't any Reform MPs on there or not!

Probably too much like actual work for them. Rather hilariously, one of the Reform MPs voted against PR at the ten minute bill reading last month - despite the party supporting PR in their 2024 manifesto!
