Anyone seen our Congressional reps and Senators? I am beyond livid that there appears to be not a single member of Congress that is taking an active role in investigating the takeover of #USAID, a Congressionally-mandated agency. /1

#USAID is an agency empowered by Congress under the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. Its mission includes poverty alleviation (§102a1) as well as programs aimed at hunger (§103a1A) and healthcare and disease-prevention (§104c), among many others. /2
Congress DIRECTED the President to allocate funds in specific ways. E.g. "assistance under this subsection shall be used primarily for basic integrated health services" §104c1. The president is bound "to take care that the laws be faithfully executed." He has no authority to delete an agency.

Which brings me back to my seething fury. Why aren't members of Congress demanding access to these buildings to ask these people under what authority they are stopping congressionally-authorized work? /4
I'm assuming the lawsuits will follow shortly because (shocking, I know) this is not legal. It should be enjoined. But it would sure be nice if we had any sort of opposition political party in DC right now.
