The H1B employees are effectively trapped indentured servants. First, if they want to switch jobs in the US the process can take months. Secondly, most want to get a green card eventually. Of course, they gotta stay for a while to get that.

This has been well known for over a decade. I don’t know if no one paid attention to the many, many reports of widespread visa fraud and the ways employers used them to mistreat workers but it sure is exhausting to fight these battles over and over…

Yes, and what is so crazy is the left keeps on talking about these issues (12 yrs ago, even!), and no one listens. Everyone in IT (including myself) knows how messed up the H1B is. And its worse when job hunting. But it's mum from mainstream. I'm frustrated.

Isnt that illegal though? Unless they go through a "job shop" 3rd party I'm pretty sure hiring H1B's requires equivalent pay scales.

Ok reading the article it does talk about Job Shops where the H1B holder is employed by a firm in their own nation and able to skirt the wage laws.

That is the place where regulations are needed.
