Oh, please do not call them Pharisees. They are the furthest thing from them. Jews (the actual direct descendants of Pharisees) do not have an issue with other peoples’ private lives or orientation. Judaism recognizes multiple genders.

In the Christian context that's what Jesus called hypocrites. When spoken to Christians it means they are not following the words of Jesus or of the prophets but rather have betrayed the word of God in both the Old and New testament.
Again, please don’t use the term. It has inspired 2000 years of antisemitic violence by xtians. We know the xtian context. It is harmful. Jews today are the direct descendants if the Pharisees slandered in the NT
There are presently no pharisees. It was a group of powerful and influential, kind of like the oligarchs of today, in the time of Jesus. It is not an insult into judaism, it is an insult for Christians who claim to follow the Old and New testament and yet preach hate. Jesus was Jewish/ Hebrew.
No. The Pharisees were blue collar workers, marginalized minority in Israel in Jesus’ time. They had no power. The Sadducees were the wealthy, the high priests, the collaborators with Rome. Don’t libel the Pharisees just because the gospels did. They saved Judaism when the temple was gone.
