I was once a rule of law kind of guy but, as of late, I often wonder why I should take any law serious when the leader of the executive branch and most of DC consider it all arbitrary?
Human affairs consist of microcosms. If we want rule of law, we need to fight for the laws, fight for implementing justice and consequences, and earn the rule of law.
Laws are sustained by effort, and many efforts have been impoverished by privilege, Capitalism, foreign influence/sabotage, etc.
I agree 100%. I suppose I am just frustrated that we can’t count on our elected officials to do anything meaningful at the moment. Hopefully that’ll change and they’ll dial it up a few but, for now, I guess it’s on us to organize like never before if we’re going to turn things around.
At this point, this "administration" & half of congress is beyond sedition (destroying the US government) & is in treason territory (giving aid & comfort to our enemies).
The Constitution does not allow any to hold office. Thus, these criminals should all lose constitutional powers & protections.
Indeed; however, enforcement of that level of accuracy involves a popular uprising. Anything of that nature should be coordinated on Signal and ProtonMail, etc.
Working within the framework requires a different strategy.
I'm not necessarily suggesting enforcement. I'm suggesting a change in discourse. Stop treating this administration as legitimate, because they are not. The Constitution to a certain extent is self-enforcing. To continue this charade gives them legitimacy, and thus powers and protections.
But yes, we need to stop treating the administration as legit. They definitely aren't. Congress does need to Enforce the 14th Amendment Section 3 with an act. Otherwise it would have magically happened properly already. I don't know why the heck they didn't. We sent them a proposal here
Alternatively, even a unilateral pro-democracy resistence (strange to say that) within Congress, refusing to recognize the legitimacy of this administration could be a powerful stance.
Thank you, this all makes sense. Maybe this needs to be re-addressed & include entire admin this time, for destroying US government & giving aid to enemies. Could there now be more appetite for this? Ironically, going thru courts only legitimizes & give them power & protections they shouldn't have.
Because there are instructions on how it is carried out. There are not specific instructions on how to enforce the removal of insurrectionists from office. For that reason the Enforcement Act of 1870 was drafted and passed. That allowed the gov to boot rebels out of elected offices

Republicans approve of this Coup.
People buy the “home of the free” gaslighting from politicians, and it’s all about the money. 👊

Kamala had a legal right to petition for recounts in NV, MI, and WI.
That doesn't seem like "fighting for what's right" to me.

both can occur concurrently.
Essentially, the founding fathers knew the Constitution could not enforce itself, so unconstitutional acts (14.3) are up to the people to enforce. 🤔

For example, for the 14th Amendment, the Amnesty vote to remove the penalty of insurrection is "self-enforcing"
