Ya know, for me, it was less about the game and more about the excitement of the people who knew games. They were so welcoming even when I was learning. Early plays were Eclipse, Merchants & Marauders, Mage Knight, Dreadfleet, TI4...it didn't matter as long as everyone was having so much fun.

Oddly enough, Robinson Crusoe. I loved watching playthrough videos and decided to dive in myself. It was crazy starting with such a heavy game, but it made stuff like Agricola a breeze to jump into.

Honestly I don’t remember ever not loving board games. As a kid in the 80s: Mastermind, Mille Bornes, Connect 4, Clue. As a young adult, party games like Taboo and Pictionary. As an almost 30 year old adult I fell in love with Euro, deck/bag building, drafting, and most dice games. And here I stay!

Ours was Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition. We'd dabbled in Catan with the expansions, but once TI3 hit, we'd meet every Saturday to play all day. After that was Battlestar Galactica, then Thunderstone, and we were off and running.

Held at a coffee shop. I was introduced to Splendor and Ticket to Ride. The next game night we played Clank for the first time and I was hooked. I didn’t know so many different games existed or that there are conferences etc. We still play Clank and the first one I bought was The Hunger. ❤️❤️❤️

Probably Pandemic; although our friends introduced us to several gateway games over a decade ago. Our hobby has long since outpaced them. We don't play any gateway games anymore.
