I think the need to strike a balance between those ideals and being useful to as many users as possible. But point taken
To add some context, I did not randomly came across this how-to article, it was part of their update announcement newsletter.

Now for video calls it's about joining and adding video links from zoom and google meets. Why not at least offering at the same time another privacy oriented solution?
