Even after reading your article with Duggan the other day, I don't understand what the QB plan would be for the Rams if they moved him? McVay was practically burned out not too long ago, and now he's going to go through a rebuild with a rookie QB?

The problem is that he's basically a $50m cap hit each of the nest 2 years, he's 37 now and his advanced metrics place him, at best, in the middle of the pack. It's not like he's a to 5-10 guy with 5-7 years left.

The issue for LA is that this is not the year to go find a guy in FA or the draft

I think he's still a top-10 QB and they can manage the cap with voidable years. I get that they may have an "internal" number they don't want to go beyond, but I'm not sure they've really thought this through.

I mean, that's not what the numbers say. The thing with him is that when he's on, he's ON and can play at a top 5 level. But statistically he's not averaged that over a season and given age and likely trajectory, $50m/year is too high for more than perhaps this season
