Crazy, right? HS2 was just loads of blokes standing about wearing orange doing sweet FA. Hugely wasteful, destructive and ultimately pointless. We need trains that are way way cheaper. They need to run where people need them - so not more in and out of London. Lots of smaller projects better?

£30 billion spent so far. Euston area blighted. No local residents will benefit from HS2. Millions wasted on plans for new Euston station which were deemed too expensive and unviable. Who is running this shit show? Money should be spent on better transport links elsewhere.

A conservative estimate of costs for HS2 phase 1 last year was UKP 49 to 57 billion. For perspective that’s the equivalent of 47 Tottenham Hotspur Stadiums. The final cost is likely to be much higher.

Emissions are already high because planes have to stack up and circle round frequently, causing a spike in emissions. The same happens in traffic jams, that's the physics of it I'm afraid. Yes, it'd be lovely if fewer people flew or drove cars, but that's not about to happen any time soon.
