Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is an interesting, yet fun game. XIII-2 is still my favorite of the Trilogy, but this was a fun experience! Some thoughts: The timer is hardly an issue. I think I may have spent the most time in this game due to a mechanic introduced as the "last ones". If you genocide monster species, ala Undertale-style, you get a final encounter with a souped up final enemy. Kill that one and you never see that monster again. Goodbye Cactuar.

Cool on paper, but my God, you really have to work on killing everything. You have to kill from 30-100 of a particular monster to extinct them. Granted, you have a much faster way to do it on the final day, but you get a limited time at the end to kill like 30ish final monsters if you do this

I like the new combat system. It's weird coming from a modern perspective, but people really seem to hate the active battle system. It's so tame too; you only have the ability to move slightly around the battle screen and can time guard and attacks

Well anyway. I think the Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy is well worth your time and aged well over the years (except all the technical issues the ports got. It really needs a remake collection).

I hope people will give the games a chance with them separated from the discourse it generated at the time

The ending had me in all smiles. Really felt like everything came together and tied the whole trilogy up in a nice little bow.

I'm glad I took the time to experience it all
