I mean crossover of ppl who appreciate styles and subjects. like folks who do concept actually able to appreciate anime/anthro etc, painters enjoying comic drafting , etc.
i do a lot of diff types of stuff an it just drives ppl away cuz they have these insular circles of subject/style.

ohhhhhhhhh. Yeah sadly with how saturated media is, people kinda box off stuff to keep it simple don't understand how it'd drive people away though, figured you'd just get a greater variety of followers...

What generally happens is ppl like smthin an wanna see more of that then get run off when they see something else. so it's just a buncha back an forth or ppl going 'oh!' then getting run off cuz it's not just the one thing over and over.
it makes sense given the climate, but it lousy regardless

yeah the youtube algorithim is notorious for empowering that mentality. Some cases it's defo for a reason, like video essay stuff, but yeah, I wish it was easier for people to branch out. Personally don't ever wanna be known for just one thing

Aye. I love seeing crossovers as they tend to bring some very unique ideas and styles to the table, but alas, yeah, with the loss of sites like DA, it is just such a rare thing these days, unfortunately.

This has been my suffering for almost 14 years :"D. I have like 3 k commissions done via two sites, and even when I crosspost or try, the carryover of interest is literally null and void :"). I think the "clique" type culture surrounding each adds to it. Online spaces have created a hierarchy.

Like Anime is frowned upon and considered childish/trash/low effort, but then furry is somehow lower than that, god forbid you draw 18+ content of either. Then you get the high art looking down at pretty much everything, including other high art. It's so weird. Online spaces end up so pretentious :<

I prefer gallery site to stream sites. I've found more artists by looking through someone's faces than anything else. Frequently when I see a work I like I want to see more of it. Gallery sites are "We got you, chief! Here's their collection." Steam sites make it difficult. Especially with old works

Socials kill art. Everything starts being the same and formatted only so it looks good at phone size.
folks will actually unfollow folks for re-posting art on socials.

FurAffinity still exists!!!
I've been beating that drum lately. BUT I 100% get that one is much more specific to the kind of niche of furry.
ArtStation and dA hung themselves so now we dont have a proper space that will accept everything.

Yeah, FA exists but as you said it's very specific (also a niche that most furries feel I Do Not Fit In.
Artstation's problem was it became elitist land & worked better as a portfolio site than a gallery cuz most art on AS was the same picture by 15 people cuz they didn't wanna be like DA haha

Also, while yeah, FA exists, it's severely outdated still, even after the refresh, lacks features other furry content has, and UI hurts to look at.

But hey! Everyone uses it so why go anywhere else?

I'm one of those weird people who doesn't want to see exclusively furry or exclusively not furry artwork.
This is why personal site galleries are way more interesting to me but most people have zero interest in looking for something and are just used to being fed content

welp, good to know there's a new site, https://cara.app, and it looks like a sfw mix of artstation and twitter. so maybe at least some of us will find new cozy home there. But it feels sad for AS and DA for becoming so illogical. As for FA.. it feels a bit off now for some reason..
