The BBC Verify article says that Nazir Afzal started it all off by quoting something that was never said by the Home Office. Others have since embellished it for political & racist reasons. I’m surprised any lawyer, let alone a top prosecutor, would be so careless with language.

Less drastic but of more merit Parliament could ban MPs and UK Gov. outlets from using Twitter and the soon to be cesspool of disinformation Facebook among other platforms.

The Gov. could even host its own BlueSky instance for official use.

I agree and I know my suggestion won’t happen.
Our Govt won’t even call out Netanyahu but I personally think Musk shouldn’t be treated in isolation to the Trump presidency and especially given his talk of invading Greenland and annexing Canada, etc.

The language we use is important in terms of shaping societal attitudes. Sometimes language needs to change & certain phrases need to be avoided, in order for instance, to protect victims. ‘Child protstitution’ for example. Surely Musk & his ilk would wholeheartedly agree with this?

At the time it was the opinion of the police, most authorities and even general public - that victims were "bad girls" who chose/deserved all they got or made up tales to get attention. They misinterpreted advice to tolerate children's lifestyle choices as accepting drinking, drugs and prostitution.
