Often do that already, was at a concert at Wembley a few years ago, we got there couple of hours early, yes checked names etc. Others in the party got there 10 minutes before main act due on, simply ushered through to prevent potential crush at entrance. As an anti-Tory, this is the kind of thing that annoys me. I don't want the State shrunk but I do think that concert ticket prices should be left to market forces and have nothing to do with government. If there is a problem it should be dealt with by the organisers, nobody else.

The issue is in some circumstances the organisers are selling directly to third party sites. Certainly something I've seen in football.

Ticket touts harvest initial ticket sales and restrict the supply for genuine fans.

Even the best efforts of the artists can't stop the touts buying tickets as they go onsale.

Consumer protection should be paramount.

Their activities are criminal.

Artists can gig wherever they like and can charge their audience whatever they like. Most want to give fans a fair deal & not live forever on the road like they once had to.

But the organisers have their money from the price they've decided to charge, so why would they spend money trying to control people reselling the tickets after that point? They won't.

What maximum? There isn't a maximum for organisers, other than what people are preapred to pay. This is about reselling already purchased tickets. So it will be a % of the face value of the ticket. The press release on the link shared says up to 30%

But there isn’t a free market. The market is controlled and dominated by a few companies. Breaking this up would be the best thing to do, but I’m sure that this will be a complex and difficult to do, so perhaps a price cap is seen as an easier remedy.
