The government says it’s met a key election pledge to deliver 2 million extra NHS appointments in England in its first year
It says the target was achieved between July and November last year, when there were almost 2.2 million more elective care appointments compared to the same period in 2023

Apparently the NHS are now offering procedures 7 days a week to cut the backlog, something I doubt would have happened under the previous govt.
The government did end the industrial action: so are these really “extra” appointments or are they resumption of service as usual?
That information is in the original post.
But even if they had been, that would only be relevant if it were specifically clinic nurses on strike; ward or theatre nurses striking would not affect clinic appointments.
‘My viewers want to know when, when? WHEN??!!!’
‘November last year….’
I saw a physio within 24 hours of phoning my GP for an appointment and already vastly better. If this is the new system it should be shouted from the rooftops.
Feel free to show your workings
Extra appointments at diagnostic centres etc., does NOT mean treatment. Given the lack of capacity to provide TREATMENT, the appointments are useless.
Would you have preferred them to stay at the previous level?
I can't disprove it, but I dislike anything which shows that the govt is actually doing something, so I will put on a derisory comment regardless
I feel for you, it must be so annoying when you can't find evidence to prove you are correct! When I have that problem I don't comment
If they had missed the target would you be qualifying it?
"Gov claims it missed a target , but how can we believe them ...?".
My wife first saw a consultant in December, just a month after going to the GP and had her operation on Saturday. She came home last night! All via NHS.
Crisis, what crisis?
