I look back to the times when my art *objectively* sucked and I know if I hadn't been my own greatest cheerleader, hadn't believed whole heartedly that I was *amazing* at art, however delusional, I would have given up before I even got started
Believe in yourself, even if it's a lie at first
I’m seeing many punching-down-on-yourself posts lately. I know it’s easy to feel like your sales are in Struggle City but a) being hard on yourself won’t help, b) patience is part of publishing, c) saying your books suck won’t entice readers, d) you have to believe in yourself more than anyone else.
