i think of all the services i want to be replaced with a more open alternative youtube is at the top. i'm so fucking tired of dealing with google's shitty app and needing to sideload a modified version if i want features that should just be expected

i have a racket script for searching videos and then passing the selected video to yt-dlp and i can't even really use it bc i'd get ratelimited so often. i should have just written it to use invidious tbh
i really hope peertube picks up some momentum now they have an app, but they have a while to go experience wise (especially with onboarding like all the fediverse)
