My beautiful Type-R, stolen over night 😠Honestly, car crime in the UK is appalling. I feel like getting rid of physical keys was a huge mistake. They didn't even need to force entry, just stand next to it with a signal amplifier and they're off

Oh crap. Theft protection is always a problem since the thiefs develop their tools much faster then the car industry. And the car companies have no incentive to be better than average in that field.
Yeah, the thieves are really sophisticated these days, they'd have been in and out in less than a minute. Starting to think insurance companies should start coming down hard on the manufacturers, must be costing them billions each year, it's not good enough
Quite a few things got triggered by insurance companies. For example that many of the parts damaged in light crashes like bumper beams or fenders is fixed with screws instead of welds. I think losses through theft is still to low to put much more effort into it.
That surprises me, seems to be a worse problem in the UK (272 per 100,000, compared with Germanys 36 per 100,000), apparently still not bad enough though!
Even more surprising since the stolen cars kinda have to stay in the UK which is somewhat risky I'd say. I mean it's still an island outside the EU and the next left hand drive market is ... India?
I've heard stories of peoples trackers saying they ended up in Africa and all sorts. The left-and drive thing seems odd though... also, they don't have either of the keys, so in theory, once the engine's off, it's not going to start again. So I'm confused as to what they could really do with it
That sucks; and my condolences to you man; but acros the canal, we're strongly advised NOT to have keyless cars, because in case of theft; you will need to present 2 keys to the insurance company, or a legal case for breaking and entering your house, including key theft.
Thanks man, sucks big time. I don't think we're advised not to have keyless cars over here, they're virtually all keyless these days, all the newer cars are anyway. But it's just rife over here, probably because they're all keyless. I've got both keys still, so we'll see I guess
