I'm old enough to remember when Republicans thought picking winners and losers was bad along with taxes on business.

Tech neutrality was long gone and we’ve graduated to financial war on renewables.

NEW permanent excise taxes on solar and wind installations AND on their manufacturing facilities. Bill also removes 5-year cost recovery. Harsher FEOC too.

If it works and also destroys their investors' investments, they don't like it. They're like people working for copper&tin traders or bronzesmiths at the end of the Bronze Age when iron was becoming readily available metal that was way cheaper even if not exactly as effective.

That's comparable to the energy density problem for all but nuclear and that one's up front costs relative to fossil fuels still not being worse than the consequences of not making the switch. Also, with overhead electrification, that issue disappears because you don't have to have the power source

I feel the same way looking at housing production figures, which everyone is expecting to stay unchanged forever, when a deeper dive reveals 1) they're in the fun phase of the growth and development process coastal areas began experiencing decades earlier and will hit the same brick wall before long
