I've started learning piano via youtube tutorials and let me tell you, it has unlocked a part of my brain that I don't think had been mobilised since I was a kid. It feels really good.

In the same boat!
I'm looking for good piano tutorials. Got started with a couple of good ones but then lost the thread a bit. Which ones are you using?
I have this in my mind for a while. The piano is here and I learned with Duolingo about the music notes and some signs. Thank you for the link. I will begin with the first lesson now.
Good luck to everyone learning!
Good for you! I learned as an adult and it was really tough but so worth it - I play every day now!
I suggest start trying to learn to read music a bit at a time while you do the videos. I waited too long and hit a wall with tutorials.
I would love to learn piano. I played clarinet for many years. I had a few piano lessons. Reading both lines and using hands independently is a different skill. Tried to get a keyboard on Freecycle but I was too late. Enjoy!
An easy way I learned was to get yourself a piano chord sheet, either physical or download, and go on to https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ and search songs by chords. Start with some of your favorites songs. You can also simplify the chords when starting out. Just play as you see it.
A couple of years ago, my wife gave me Art lessons as a birthday gift.
My art teacher at school was utterly crap, and as a result I'd avoided art for half a century and more.
But I love it now. I'm not good, but so what? It's fun and an outlet for creativity. And I'm getting better!
For me, that bad teacher stayed in my memory, so that when I retrained to be a teacher in my 40s, I determined to respect my pupils and never use sarcasm.
Happy for you! The feeling you describe is normal. But it doesn't last long with YouTube usually. You re welcome if needed, I give also lessons on visio.
I think Bergson's dad was kind of composer anyway.
