Bill Lee’s “Little Red Book” is a great literary introduction to Yankees hate. I read it over 15 years ago, so I don’t remember too much, but damn, does The Spaceman hate the Yankees.
My father, who was a huge baseball fan and who lived all his life in NY, absolutely loathed the Yankees because they were owned by "that lousy fascist." It was one of the reasons I loved him so much. (He mostly followed the Mets.)
It’s like, after a .500 season out of playoff relevance they said “The Yankees used to cast a long shadow over Major League Baseball. We used to be hated!
Actually, I think it would be kind of interesting to see a list of the most repulsive fans of each sports teams. (This is, of course, a strong contender for number one overall.)
