He seems a little confused, or is at least waxing poetic, in the third paragraph. Trump, John Eastman, and other insiders masterminded Jan 6, and the Proud Boys certainly didn't understand his urging to "stand back and stand by" to mean that, coming as it did in late September 2020.

Musk also appears to support the AfD, a far-right party in Germany in which many of its leaders express Nazi sympathies. That makes it harder for me to accept that Musk didn't mean to give the Seig Heil salute.
