BREAKING: Two sources tell @theprospect.bsky.social that the acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration has asked for a plan for cuts to 50% of the workforce, including at the 1,200 field offices that serve millions of beneficiaries.

I was at the SSA office a couple months ago and I sat there thinking they needed 3x the employees the entire time. The waiting room was full and there was a constant stream of people being turned away bc they didn't have an appt. Nearly every single one had spent hours on the phone trying to get one
