Raunted? No-no! I'm a nerdy older man and my first choice is the PATH and Subway into NYC. And we do come back late at night. I've NEVER had problems. The troubles I've seen are between people that chose trouble. My worst trouble was running out of Eisenhower Dollars for Buskers Guitar cases.
I think the disconnect here is that to reactionaries like Duffy, seeing or having to sit next to a poor person or a person of a different race on public transit is 'crime'.
The lie of things being so dangerous is meant to prop up police budgets. Police budgets are are propped up so that there’s less money left over for social justice and helping poor folks.
They miss an obvious pro-policing argument they could make, too. Why?
What they're really scared of is regular people finding a way to make do in life without being shackled to mindless consumerism. That's not in their rich donor's economic interest.
I have taken the path train at God awful late at night while drunk... with 2 large men with me who were also drunk, and both fell asleep, leaving me to babysit them. And no one bothered me. A giant biker dude offered to help me get my friends back to my car, tho. So terrifying. How did I survive.
Sean Duffy: "Buy a car! Buy two of them! A big car! That burns lots of gas! Finance it at 9% interest over 72 months! License it! Insure it! Maintenance it!! Repair it! Scare pedestrians & people in EV's with it!
What do you mean you can't afford it? That sounds like a personal problem."
“Even big men don’t want to ride the subway” first of all wtf and second of all, do they not want to ride because nobody is waiting around anymore to stroke their ego and greet them with “welcome big man!”?
