Now I feel that I strongly undercharge. I take 850 mostly.

For fully rendered complex illustrations for book covers.

For small independant authors it's a good price, but if it's a bigger author or company, you can up to 1k. And if it's a publishing house go up at 2k.

I make exceptions on a personal basis (like, I've done covers for small indie friends for under $500), but ESPECIALLY publishers or big-name authors should be willing to meet industry standards. So many people devalue cover work and just want to get off cheap even if they can easily afford it 😤

Look before this goes any further and anyone tries to twist what I’m saying all I’m saying is putting a random number on it isn’t the best. If artist and the person getting the art done is both happy and feel like they’re treated fairly then all is well.
