Agreed. Wukong was a decent Souls-like, but definitely not worthy of a GOTY nomination in my opinion. I’m also admittedly a bit biased since merely playing the game kinda shows you the developer’s backwards ideas about women and female representation in games.

A game story happening during the french revolution will have the guillotine, even if death penalty is a big no-no in civilized countries nowadays. There will be slavery in imperial Rome and human sacrifices in Tenochtitlan.
And here I thought rightoids hated moral relativism.
But there are and the reason they don't appear earlier is due to the story being centered around Buddhism.
Ppl also assume every monster is male in the game but how can you tell the gender of a giant hippo monster?
Get real.
The monkey king is a very old myth that goes way back and yes it's steeped in Buddhist culture and mythology.
Just because it's fictional doesn't change that.
Literally no one is arguing it's a documentary on the real ancient China.
Even if the story itself is fictional.
How the hell is that a cop out, it's just being accurate to history and the source material and the surrounding culture.
All I've heard about is the CEO but now suddenly people are talking about it like it's the whole dev team.
