Not to be all Pollyanna positive but I hope you are in a place where you can hear the different birdsong that comes with longer days because it’s fucking fucking beautiful

when i was a kid, neighbors had a peacock. it escaped from the sandwich game farm & somehow ended up in their yard. they called the game farm but they didn't want it back because it was a pain in the ass.
the neighbors built a huge enclosure for it and it happily lived out its days.
noisy critter.
My neighborhood is one of two that i know of in St. Pete where a former game farm tourist attraction went broke and left some animals to fend for themselves. Several small lakes and lots of big old oak trees(where they sleep) and lawns full of bugs keep them thriving here. Two dozen I’d say.
Oh my goodness! The noise!
I just remembered that they introduced guinea fowl on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket to eat ticks. Similar noise level and sound.
It sounds like Jurassic Park here at dusk if there is any loud noise. Truck rumbles by on the next block and they screech. Shut up! We’re trying to sleep!
No, I’m more of a reptile/amphibian guy. Just finally decided to actually figure out the kinds of birds in my yard. The seagulls, eagles and hawks overhead are pretty easy, it’s the little guys who are harder to tell for me.
I’m looking forward to it. We’re not quite there yet, but soon enough the birds won’t give a flying fuck (yeah I went there. not sorry) and will commence their vernal symphony!
I heard a lovely bird calling early this morning and it was one I was not familiar with. I'm trying to match the single note today. It was incredible. :)
Update! It was one of the flock of Eastern Starlings that weathered the recent below-zero temperatures at my feeder and mesmerized me daily with their murmurations! I love starlings. I don't care what anyone says about them. 💚
One of the things that makes me very happy is knowing that at any point in my day or night, somewhere in the world the dawn chorus is starting. Just makes me smile.
next up is that spring green, which is different than just normal tree green and always makes me think of that e e cummings poem with the word “puddlewonderful” in it

(Thanks for this, btw.)
Grey Butcherbird?
We have lots of these, similar look but bigger. Gorgeous call 🤗

These finches were always battling it out in the backyard for the food. It was hard finding a bird feeder that was squirrel proof… 😂
🕊
I was doing text to talk for a photo Alt text and it had "YEAH" sprinkled throughout because of the blue jays. 🤣
Ain’t nothing wrong with sharing some positive.
Happy warriors NEED that for the good fight.
So go pollyanna AF with yer bad self. 😄
