My massage therapist sometimes does dynamic cupping (with flexible cups she moves around) and holy shitballs it hurts. It helps too. I prefer the standard cupping tho (frim my physio and acupuncturist) because pain.
Have you tried a tens machine? I used one to sleep for first 6 mos - legit lifesaver
Tens is great because you can do it at home as needed, and play with what helps on any given day. Cheaper than most other therapies too. Hope ypu find some relief soon.
I've done acupuncture in the past for a TMJ disorder that was playing havoc with my life due to pain. It was helpful and even better when combined with massage therapy.
I hope you find something that helps, pain can rule and ruin a person's life.
I suffered migraine most of my life. A couple years ago my neurologist prescribed a new med that was finally the answer. I would never have considered myself disabled, but now that I can go months without, I realize how affected I really was.
Does the Botox work for you? I qualify but I tried a medication instead. It completely stopped my migraines but the side effects were horrible for me and I had to go off it… back to looking for other ops.
Not yet anyway, but I plan to give it a couple more sessions. And yeah I can relate, so many of the migraine meds I've tried have fucked with my already really fucked up guts.
Mine got worse when I started taking hormones (for adenomyosis) and more insomnia too, but that was also around the time I got covid (in 2022) and so now I don't know if the worse migraines were from covid, the meds, both or neither.
Jeez, tough go. My migraines turned out to be from a pinched nerve, insomnia from semi-helpful drugs. (psst, my librarian wife loves reading your posts)
Oh thank you :) My migraines are from a lot of stuff but mostly the rapid temp/pressure changes in Alberta and it's possible nothing may help that apart from moving.
Weather systems everywhere. Ontario pressure systems and humidity is high. For migraines it is brutal. Stress for migraines is bad too. Still looking for relief but botox is scaring the hell out me due to stenosis in my back. Had steroid shots already that stopped working after a while so...
Haven't tried any of those things yet (someone did recently recommend biologics but said only a neurologist can do that and I've been getting the botox from a dentist because the neuro I was recommended to was an asshole) but have tried a shit ton of other drugs.
Both my family doc and a cannabis doc mentioned biologics to me but said they may be expensive like the Botox (which is only partially covered by my benefits). Usually my meds have been covered but fewer of the fancy newer things are covered.
The advice I’ve received has been to titrate Mg up until the point of gastric distress.
Currently I take 2g/day.
I used to take nattokinase and it helped with my LC symptoms, though my case is very mild apart from the bonkers neuro effect of “eliminating crippling depression and anxiety”.

😆
I was on them for about two years. I went from 20-25 migraine days per month to 2-3.
Also, IM diphenhydramine and intranasal ergotamine are excellent old school migraine abortives esp if you can’t take a triptan.
But even most neuros don’t know about those meds I mentioned. Only learned about them as an inpatient at Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago.
(Also the importance of magnesium as a preventative.)
