I genuinely think most people are too good at heart to internalize how misanthropic their rich overlords are. Their empathy fails to capture how even a millionaire wouldn’t waste their spit on you if you were on fire.

My future in-laws are genuinely good, honest, hard-working, god-fearing, patriotic people who I love and respect; but there’s a disconnect because I don’t think they fully understand that all of those qualities would make capitalism’s winners think of them as rubes.
In a just world they’d be rich.

I will hit you with a brick.
It’s a shame those values he instilled in us are shamed by those above us. We don’t deserve to be ridiculed for our hard work, it’s what we want to do and our efforts aren’t valued. I will never waste my time proving to those that see me as below them that I am smart and capable
It's why I have the hot take that somewhere during the industrial revolution, Evangelicalism was created at least in part to reframe Christianity from a religion of proletariat cooperation into one that puts the rich on a pedestal and pits working people against each other. A long-con psyop.
