Highly recommended. There’s a lot about Parable of the Sower (and Parable of the Talents) that reviewers have called out as being shockingly prescient, and I agree with them, but I also want to point out how wild it was to read a sci-fi work that takes place (in part) HERE, in LA.

Do you know if there are any academic references regarding literature and gaming being combined like this? Or is anyone in the library system studying it and reviewing to identify individual or community benefits?

I don't know of any studies or references, offhand. There's certainly plenty of fiction-turned-game material to study out there, in both tabletop and digital gaming.
