It's insane too because if you look at something like healthcare you find that the US paid more than Germany, the U.K., Italy, Spain, Austria, and France combined in healthcare expenditures. This means US taxpayers are paying more for healthcare while getting less than these "high tax" countries!

1. Easier than it is to gain legal residency in the US. Heckin easy if you have a Belgian willing to sponsor you.
2. Lol yes but in a different way than Americans. In the city of Antwerp 1 in 10 are of non-belgian origin so even if there are racists and bigots many places are still really diverse.

It's a value proposition. It's what you get for your money that counts. Apart from decent public transport and decent healthcare, I don't think there are too many cases in Belgium or outside the US where a bridge will fall down for no reason.
