How firm is the parsnip filling? As in, would the pie hold together without a crust to contain it? (I want more root veg in my diet but preferably less pastry)
I really doubt it'd do anything without *some* kind of container except slump into a scorched puddle. You might consider buttering a small ovenproof dish (along the lines of a soufflé dish) and baking it in that.
There you go. :) Give it a shot and see how it behaves! (You might also try crumbing the dish after you’ve buttered it, if you feel like going that far. I’d add a little grated nutmeg and allspice to the crumbs if I did that.)
