I'm so sorry for what the Trusk Administration is doing to our dear friend and ally, Canada. And just wanted to add: We had The Friendly Giant, too! Such memories of the wonderful, warm, gentle children's shows of those earlier TV decades.
The CBC has changed so much over the years some good and some bad. To me it was and is a unifying voice that links us from coast to coast to coast. You're seeing from your left eye and hearing from left ear at times, but it is information that is more important than ever with a Canadian view!
Me too. We got like 30 stations (down river we got Toledo as well) and Channel 9. I guess with streaming it wouldn't be as bad today, but without the CBC I wouldn't have known what was going on in my country growing up.

And you weren't the only one to have a crush on Trudy Young!
Spoken like someone who doesn't live here. Just passing through.
His union ( #ACTRAToronto ) supplies Canadian actors to the US tv shows and US movies that are being filmed in Canada
Canadians are watching those US productions instead of what's being aired on the #CBC
He wouldn't miss what the CBC is today any more than 95% of the Canadian population that doesn't watch the CBC
What he would miss is the chance to get a job performing on a CBC production today
I am absolutely ecstatic that you appreciate my being more honest about your self-serving interest in the #CBC than you're being about it.

It was an American tv show that was airing on a local American tv station.
American actor Bob Homme, the creator of the show, played the part of "The Friendly Giant"
Ernie Coombs aka"Mister Dressup" was an American actor too.
