Too bad jordan isn’t on here. I talk about this paper all the time! And yes I mostly use explicit, direct questions nowadays and I started in IAT research as an undergrad.

It makes one wonder why implicit measures were so popular. Lots of reasons, but I think a combination of implicit attitudes are an interesting idea (that might still be true!), it's nice to think that people won't report awful attitudes, it feel more like Real Science (tm) uncovering a hidden truth

I think a lot of folks never really (even if unconsciously) gave up on the early idea of implicit measures as a way of getting around social desirability, even after research and theory shed doubt on that idea
