FACT OF THE DAY. 22 February 1879. Frank W. Woolworth opened his 1st “Five and Ten Cent Store” in Utica, New York, USA. It sold goods at low prices. It was the first brand to go global, opening over 3,000 stores across the world. The 1st British store was on Church Street in Liverpool.
